  • RB Salzburg 0-1 Chelsea

    23. What an extraordinary goal!

Salzburg fail to deal with Connor Gallagher's cross in from the right, Christian Pulisic wins possession back, and Kai Havertz helps the ball back to the edge of the area.

Moving away from his left foot, Mateo Kovacic has no right to shoot from here, but when has that ever stopped the Croatian?

First time with the outside of his left foot, Kovacic connects and sends it slicing away and into the top corner.

    Chelsea lead in Austria!

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    21. It's not the visitors enjoying the bulk of possession.

Well, they're not really enjoying it as they're struggling to find a way through a well-drilled Salzburg unit.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    19. Chalobah is being encouraged to bring the ball out of defence and drive forward whenever the opportunity arises.

When the centre-back does venture upfield, Jorginho is dropping back into the vacant gap.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    17. After Chelsea's fast start, it's the home side that have had the better of the last ten minutes.

A reminder that Salzburg are unbeaten in their last 40 competitive matches at the Red Bull Arena.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    15. A first glimpse of Luka Sucic's talents.

The 20-year-old picks up Okafor's lay-off, and runs at the Chelsea defence.

He twists Chalobah one way, and then the other before firing high of Kepa's goal.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    13. An impressive burst of energy from Gallagher takes him through the heart of the midfield, away from Gourna-Douath.

In response, the 19-year-old can only hold on to the back of the Chelsea man and pulls him down.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    11. Graham Potter makes his first tactical tweak of the night as Sterling and Pulisic switch flanks.

The American is now on the right with the former Manchester City star on the left.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    10. Another corner to Salzburg.

Okafor makes room for himself in the penalty area, but is unable to get his shot away under pressure from Cucurella.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    9. A half-chance from the resulting set-piece for Bernardo, but the former Brighton man is out-muscled to the ball by Chalobah.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    8. The home side break forward for the first time, sparked by a beautiful chest down and flick from Okafor.

Eventually, Dedic attempts to swing over a cross from the right, but it's blocked behind by Sterling for a corner.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    6. Chelsea continue to press in numbers.

Gallagher, Sterling and Aubameyang have all attempted to make in-roads into the Salzburg area, but - so far - the young home defence are holding firm.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    4. Thankfully, Kohn is up and able to continue.

He receives an apologetic slap on the back from Havertz too. That will help.

  • RB Salzburg 0-0 Chelsea

    2. Brave goalkeeping from Kohn, but at what cost?!

The Salzburg goalkeeper rushes off his line to reach Bernardo's awful headed backpass, flicking the ball away from the boot of Havertz.

However, following through on his run, the Chelsea forward accidentally caught the keeper on the side of the head with his knee, leaving him flat out on the pitch and in need of treatment.

  • Kick-off - RB Salzburg v Chelsea

    1. After a wonderful tribute in memory of Mateschitz, it's Chelsea that get the game underway at the Red Bull Arena.

The visitors are in all blue, Salzburg are wearing silvery-grey.

  • Here come the two teams!

There are flags aplenty as the players stride out on to the Salzburg pitch, and take their place for the pre-match formalities.

On the edge of the Alps, Ian Darke tells us that this city is the birthplace of Mozart; "What would he have made of the Champions League anthem?"

A handshake, a coin toss, and an exchange of mementos between captains Max Wober and Jorginho later, and we're almost ready to go.

However, first the players and fans inside the stadium come together for an emotional minute's applause in memory of RB Salzburg's co-founder Dietrich Mateschitz, who passed away at the weekend.

  • Potter expecting another tough test

Graham Potter's first game as Chelsea manager was a hard-fought 1-1 draw with RB Salzburg at Stamford Bridge last month, and the Blues boss believes he has learnt plenty from that match to form his gameplan for tonight's return.

We want to be positive. We know we're playing a very tough opponent, they make it very difficult here - you only have to take see their results that they've got in Europe especially. They attack with clarity, they defend with clarity. They're very aggressive, and very intense. You need to use the width against them, you need to affect their defensive idea.

  • Blues odds-on to progress
