He was forced off at half-time of the 0-0 draw in Germany.

Haaland, 22, was spotted limping into hospital on Thursday as his foot injury was checked.

After taking him off against Dortmund, boss Pep Guardiola said: "Three things: I saw him so tired.

"The second one he had a bit of a fever, like Joao [Cancelo]. The third, he had a knock on his foot."

Yesterday, the Spaniard added: "He feels better, but we train this afternoon, and we will assess in these few hours.

"We will see how he feels. After we will decide - I will know it in two hours if he can play."

Haaland has been replaced by understudy Julian Alvarez for today's King Power Stadium clash.

The Argentine will be flanked by Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva, with Kevin De Bruyne and Ilkay Gundogan offering creativity from midfield.

Alvarez has scored three competitive goals so far for City, notching twice in his side's 6-0 victory over Nottingham Forest and grabbing another against Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Today will mark just his second Prem start, with the other coming in that match against Forest.

Haaland, meanwhile, will be unable to add to his already astonishing tally.

The City sensation has bagged 17 goals in 11 Prem games since signing in the summer.
