  • Thanks for joining us!

Today's match was definitely a game of two halves.

Manchester United were excellent in the first 45 and got their reward in the form of Marcus Rashford's imperious header at the back post.

West Ham were much improved in the second half and will perhaps feel a little unfortunate not to have taken something away from the game - especially given the almost superhuman nature of David De Gea's goalkeeping.

The three points that Erik Ten Hag's team have earned today see them leapfrog Chelsea into fifth place, one point behind Newcastle with a game in hand.

West Ham, meanwhile, are just three points above the relegation zone.

Manchester United head to the midlands next weekend to take on Aston Villa, while David Moyes' team host Crystal Palace at the London Stadium.

All that's left for me to say is thanks for joining us and see you next time!

  • Harry Maguire

Manchester United's captain kept a clean sheet on his return to the team today.

He did, however, jump into a couple of tackles a little too quickly and that exposed his team to West Ham's counter attack.

It's probably good news for England, though, that he is getting some much-needed game time ahead of the World Cup that starts in just a few week's time.

  • Erik Ten Hag quotes

The Manchester United boss has been praising the efforts of Diego Dalot in his post-match interview.

I'm really happy with the development of Diego. His timing and duels are getting better from game to game.

  • Rashford quotes

Marcus Rashford has been speaking after this afternoon's victory.

I don't think that we played our best today, but if we want to reach our ambitions this season we need to come through games like that.

  • West Ham's disappointment

David Moyes' team will probably feel unfortunate not to have taken something from today's game.

On another day, against a different goalkeeper, they possibly would have done.

They really got going in the second half when they started to press Manchester United a bit higher up the pitch.

  • Rashford stakes a claim

He was kept quiet in the second half but Marcus Rashford did his chances of making the England World Cup squad the world of good.

His header in the first half was emphatic and a strikingly un-Rashford goal.

I can't remember him scoring too many like that before.

Good timing as well with Gareth Southgate in the crowd at Od Trafford.

  • Lisandro Martinez

The Argentinean was the best player on the pitch for Manchester Unite this afternoon.

His contribution didn't go unnoticed by the fans in Old Trafford who serenaded him with a chant of "ARGENTINA, ARGENTINA" midway through the second half.

  • Man United 1 – 0 West Ham

    68. Another opening for West Ham, but this one fell to the wrong man.

Antonio forces the ball to the edge of the Manchester United penalty area almost through sheer will.

The ball falls kindly for Craig Dawson to strike but the centre back can't keep his effort on target.
