MILTON KEYNES DONS have sacked manager Karl Robinson after more than six years at the club.
Robinson, who is still only 36, was the third-longest-serving manager in English football before chairman Pete Winkelman decided to swing the axe.
MK Dons sit 19th in the League 1 table, just one point above the relegation zone.
And they've suffered the humiliation of falling below AFC Wimbledon, the successor to Wimbledon FC, whose Football League place they took 12 years ago.
A 3-0 home defeat against Southend was the final straw with Robinson admitting after the match that many inside the club wanted him gone.
He told BBC Three Counties Radio: "I have to be honest - it [me leaving] is what a lot of people want.
Robinson also derided his players as 'weak' after the Southend loss.
"Certain players are too weak - mentally and physically too weak.
"It affects my life, but I don't think it affects certain players' lives. You have to be responsible for your own actions as well. It is not all about the players."
His crowning moment came in 2015 when he led the Dons to the Championship, winning promotion from League 1 on the last day of the season.
Robinson rejected advances from Leeds United to dedicate himself to keeping the MK Dons in the second tier, but they were ultimately relegated.
