  • Pivac relief to answering critics

In the post-match interview you could see the relief on the face of Wayne Pivac after the grilling he has had this week due to the nature of the defeat against New Zealand.

His side needed to answer some questions and went some way towards doing that today against a side that beat England at Twickenham only 6 days ago.

The Welsh coach will hope to be looking back to the All Blacks game to reflect how they used it to really change the team's fortunes.

  • Pumas offer South American springboard

Wales need to use this victory as a catalyst to move on to more positive form leading towards the Six Nations.

They were well beaten by a very good All Blacks side many will fancy win the World Cup in France.

Wales have to work towards form that could see them compete more with New Zealand should they lock horns in the tournament.

  • Step in right direction for Pivac's boys

The second half performance today was a big improvement with less errors being made, gifting the opposition tactical opportunities through the penalties they give away.

Now is the time to make mistakes but unless you learn from them and grow as a team so as to not continue to do so, you have no hope of working towards a push at the 2023 World Cup.

The fans will leave the stadium in far more positive mood hoping their side has now turned the corner.

  • Dragons back to winning ways

That will never be described as a comfortable victory as the visitors put the Welsh under a lot of pressure.

Unlike against the All Blacks the defence was more resolute and kept The Pumas at bay.

The man of the match award was given to Taulupe Faletau who scored the first try today for Wayne Pivac's side.

Huge victory for Wales today, a further defeat could have sent them into a spiral.

Wales turn the ball over but waste it, kicking the ball straight out.

  • Wales 20-13 Argentina

    75. Wales kick into Argentinian territory.

Juan Cruz Mallia does brilliantly under pressure, dummying a kick to sidestep the Welsh challenge and breakout.

  • Wales 20-6 Argentina

    65. First attempt of the day for Priestland is successful.

Having replaced Anscombe he extends his side's lead.

The Pumas have no way of getting back into this game for as long as they keep giving the hosts penalties.

  • Penalty - Rhys Priestland (Wales)

Chance for Wales to put more of a distance between the sides.

Rhys Priestland is going for goal from distance.

  • Wales 17-6 Argentina

    61. The Pumas do not seem to have the same hunger they showed last Sunday when they played England at Twickenham.

It takes some doing to out-error Wales on the penalty front at the moment but the Argentines are doing it pretty well.

The next try makes or breaks the game, if Wales get it they could put even more points on the board in this game.

  • Wales 17-6 Argentina

    57. Wales have problems now.

As Argentina were attacking, in the Welsh twenty-two, as they looked to take clean ball out of their scrum Will Rowlands played the ball off his feet.

The referee immediately issues the yellow card.

Wales are under pressure now with Argentina probing, now having a man advantage.

  • Wales 17-6 Argentina

    55. The visitors are trying to make something happen.

Wales are defending well but the errors made by The Pumas in terms of penalties given away make defending against them easier.

Argentina look to drive for the Welsh line from their own line out in the corner.

The visitors are knocking on the door and think they have got over the line but the player is clearly held up by the Welsh defence.

  • Wales 17-6 Argentina

    53. The fact that Wales are more than a converted try ahead may open this game up more in the second half.

Argentina cannot rely on their kicking game to get them back into this game, they need to attack more.

They have given away six penalties themselves today and Wales have managed to punish them for it.

  • Wales 17-6 Argentina

    51. The Pumas have a scrum just on the Welsh twenty-two.

Some great handling from the visitors as they look to work their way through Wales.

It didn't work for them this time but the referee pulls it back for a penalty and Argentina kick for the corner.
