PORTUGAL came out victors against Uruguay and have sealed their place in the knockout stages of the World Cup with the victory.
Cristiano Ronaldo claimed that he netted the opener, running off to celebrate with it unclear as to whether he met Bruno Fernandes' goal bound cross.
But Fifa officially awarded the goal to Fernandes - who added his second in additional time.
A penalty was given for handball on Jose Gimenez, which appeared to be harsh as the ball struck his hand when he dived in to win the ball.
It was an improved performance by the Uruguayans, who were unlucky not to score after registering several shots on target.
They have it all to do when they face Ghana in their final match of the group stages.

Fernando Santos makes three changes to his Portugal side after the squeaked their way past Ghana last week.
Danilo picked up an injury in training, and is replaced at the back by 39-year-old Pepe; he is the second-oldest outfield player to start a game at the World Cup finals.
Elsewhere, William Carvalho is in for Otavio in midfield while Nuno Mendes replaces Raphael Guerreiro.
After becoming the first male footballer to score at five World Cups, Cristiano Ronaldo again captains the side and leads the line.

"What a contrast from two nights ago when Mexico and Argentina met here in Lusail and the atmosphere was building for hours and hours.
There's still 50 minutes plus until kick off, but it would be a surprise if there wasn't a significant number of empty seats for this one.
Dan King"As expected, Pepe is in for the injured Danilo for Portugal, and will become the second oldest outfield player in World Cup history. Nuno Mendes is fit to return at left back.
"The kind of surprise for Uruguay is that Luis Suarez has been dropped to the bench.
"Portugal are seeking revenge for their 2-1 defeat in the last 16 in Russia by the same opponents and a win would put them through. A draw would also be enough, I think.
"Uruguay have another grudge match against Ghana later in the week and always have a dogged 0-0 in them.
"But I hope not after Mexico-Argentina which, for all its atmosphere, was a poor game lit up only by Lionel Messi breaking the deadlock and Enzo Fernandez's picturebook second."
