JAMIE CARRAGHER believes only three Manchester United legends will defend Cristiano Ronaldo after his bombshell interview with Piers Morgan.

The ex-Liverpool defender, 44, slammed the Portuguese forward for his honest and frank conversation with SunSport columnist Morgan.

In the world exclusive interview, Ronaldo said he felt betrayed by United and was made to feel like he was blamed for everything going wrong at Old Trafford.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner also confirmed it was Sir Alex Ferguson who convinced him to snub rivals Manchester City to rejoin United.

But the 37-year-old reckons the club has not progressed since the legendary boss' retirement nine years ago - then added he does not respect current gaffer Erik ten Hag in a major claim.

But Carragher hit out at Ronaldo - who also took a dig at former team-mate Wayne Rooney - for his comments.

And then he named the three ex-Old Trafford heroes he expects to stick by Ronaldo.

The Sky Sports pundit tweeted: "Ronaldo, 'I don’t respect the manager'.

"Ronaldo under ETH: Announced he wanted to leave, refused to come on as a substitute, walked off the bench & left before the game had finished.

"99 per cent of United fans will be on the side of ETH, which shows how badly Ronaldo has handled this."

Carragher then added: "The 1 per cent will be Rio [Ferdinand], Roy [Keane] & Patrice [Evra]…."

Keane was passionate in his defence of Ronaldo when he refused to come on as a substitute against Tottenham last month - and then left the stadium before full-time.

Ferdinand and Evra have also tended to support their former team-mate while Gary Neville has openly criticised the player and said he should be pushed out of the club, leading to Ronaldo ignoring him in a brutal TV snub.

Ferdinand hit back at Carragher's claim and offered the Liverpool legend to come on his podcast.
