BRAZILIAN midfielder Bruno Guimaraes has sent a “wish you were here” message from Qatar to his Newcastle team-mate Joelinton.
While Bruno will play a leading role in Brazil’s bid to win the World Cup for a record sixth time, Joelinton missed out on a place in the squad even though he’s been in sparkling form for the Toon.
Despite his country’s dazzling array of talent, Bruno reckons Joelinton was desperately unlucky not to make the cut.
“I’m sad for him because I hoped he would be in the squad with me,” said the former Lyons star, who celebrated his 25th birthday at Brazil’s training camp.
“He’s a great player who has been playing really well this season.
“He has helped me a lot since I arrived and I see him as my brother.”

Brazil were last crowned champions of the world in 2002 when Bruno was just four years old but he still has vivid memories of the victory parade which passed near his home in Rio de Janeiro.
And legend Ronaldo’s famous “wedge” haircut stands out too.
“I remember everything stopped in Brazil and people went out onto the streets to celebrate,” he added.
“The players arrived on top of a big truck, a bit like a fire engine.

“It was one of the best moments of my life
“I wanted to cut my hair like Ronaldo. Everybody in the country wanted to do the same but my mum wouldn’t let me.
“But I don’t want it anymore – it is not a good look!”
Brazil kick off their campaign against Serbia next Thursday and Bruno is intent on making his mark.
“With all the humility in the world, I believe I deserve to be there,” he said “And I will do my best for my country.”
