PHIL BARDSLEY and his family have paid tribute to John Albert Lancaster who died in a three-car crash.
Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley has been left devastated by the death of his 77 year old grandfather in tragic circumstances.
As reported bythe family have paid an emotional tribute to Bardsley's grandfather who lived in Salford.
The family said he was a ''loving husband, father and grandfather.''
Bardsley's wife Tanya added: ''He was the loveliest man, a joy to be around and will be greatly missed.
If love could have saved him he would never have died.''
Mr Lancaster was father to five daughters, a grandfather to 12 and a great grandfather of 12 and partner to Marjorie for 20 years.
He leaves behind a huge family and his loss will be devastating to his relatives in what is a truly tragic accident.

The family did release a statement which read:
“He was a loving husband to the late Maureen and father to five daughters, Julie, Janette, Christina, Paula and Trisha.
“We would also like to thank the midwife who administered CPR at the scene.
“He was a loving grandfather, great grandfather and a great friend to many. He will be sadly missed by all. Love always and forever.”
Bardsley played for Stoke in their 2-0 win over Hull City but it is not known if he will take compassionate leave for the Potters game on Halloween when they host Swansea City on Monday night.
