HARRY MAGUIRE had the last laugh after being cruelly mocked by Iran fans before today's Group B opener.
The Manchester United defender has come in for much criticism for his form this year, even being booed before England matches at Wembley.
Travelling Three Lions supporters couldn't have given the defender a better reception at Khalifa International Stadium, however, giving him a large ovation before the game.
But the 29-year-old was mocked by Iran fans prior to Monday's match in Qatar, with fans bringing mean spirited banners into the ground.
One read: "It's not coming home because of Harry Maguire."
While a second jibed: "Harry Maguire your defence is terrifying."
