SPAIN broke a World Cup record in their 7-0 thrashing of Costa Rica.
Luis Enrique's side ran rampant with goals from Dani Olmo, Marco Asensio, Ferran Torres, Gavi, Carlos Soler and Alvaro Morata.
They played some scintillating football and Costa Rica could not get close to them thanks to some clever movement and intricate passing.
Spain recorded an incredible 82 per cent possession - a new record for the World Cup since data was first collected in 1966.
The 2010 World Cup winners completed an astonishing 976 passes out of the 1043 they attempted.
That means they have pipped the previous record of 80 per cent possession held by Argentina following their game against Greece in 2010.

England rank fourth overall after managing 78 per cent possession in their 6-2 win over Iran on Monday.
Spain's 2018 side achieved 79 per cent possession against Russia - the third-highest in World Cup history.
Argentina also round off the top five after finishing their game against Iceland in 2018 with 78 per cent possession.
Barcelona midfielder Gavi also set a record by becoming Spain's youngest player to ever score at the World Cup.

It was just the latest achievement for the wonderkid, who won the Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy awards earlier this year.
He was already his country’s youngest-ever goal scorer, having netted against the Czech Republic in June’s Nations League match aged 17 years and 304 days.
And after scoring against Costa Rica Gavi became the third youngest World Cup goalscorer ever behind Mexico's Manuel Rosas and Pele.
The Brazil icon is the youngest-ever goal scorer in World Cup history, netting against Wales in 1958 aged 17.
