NETHERLANDS have reached the World Cup quarter-finals thanks to a 3-1 win over USA.
Memphis Depay opened the scoring, sweeping home after a fine passing move before Daley Blind made it two.
But Haji Wright's flick gave USMNT some hope heading into the final minutes of the game.
Denzel Dumfries, however, had the final say as he steered home Blind's cross just minutes later.

Man of the match
There were a few brilliant performances in the Dutch side today.
Ake looked composed on the left-side of a back three, and Blind had a blinder on the left-hand side of the pitch, but it was Denzel Dumfries who stole the headlines.
He was up and down the right in a performance that was reminiscent of his fantastic showing at Euro 2020.
He played two perfect cut-backs to set up the first two goals for Depay, and then for Blind, before hitting home with his left foot from inside the box to see the game out for his team.
We couldn't give it to anyone else...
Didn't take their chances...
This game could have been very different had Christian Pulisic slotted away his chance to give USA the lead within two minutes.
However, the Dutch master plan was perfectly executed, and they soaked up the pressure before hitting the USA on the break with some clinical finishing from Depay, Dumfries and Blind.
These are the match stats from the game, which saw the Netherlands progress into the quarter-finals...
Commiserations, but it's home time
A word on the US, who can be proud of their performance in this tournament, despite a disappointing exit tonight.
They have a very good foundation for the next World Cup, which they are co-hosts of, including a very young, energetic midfield, and an attacker in Christian Pulisic who has the potential to be frightening if he is in the right form.
Ultimately it is goodbye for now, but not for long.
They will be back in 2026.
Underestimate them at your peril
Well before this game it was something of an underwhelming tournament from the Netherlands, despite not losing a game in the groups.
Questions were being asked of their ability to play nice football, instead of practical football.
But today they answered those questions, with a few sensational strikes, and a brilliant team performance.
FT. Netherlands 3-1 USA
The referee blows for full time.
It is joy for the Dutch, and Denzel Dumfries in particular, but disappointment for the USA, who are out of the World Cup in the round of 16.
90+3. Netherlands 3-1 USA
Changes for both sides in added time.
Jordan Morris replaces Antonee Robinson for the USA.
Wout Weghorst and Matthijs De Ligt replace Cody Gakpo and Nathan Ake.
90. Netherlands 3-1 USA
Frenkie De Jong picks up a yellow card.
There will be six minutes of added time here at the Khalifa stadium, that is more like it...
88. Netherlands 3-1 USA
A final update for you from Martin Lipton at the Khalifa...
"That didn’t last long.
"And the best player on the pitch surely settles it.
"Robinson quite literally has no idea that Dumfries is standing, utterly unmarked, 10 yards behind him.
"He is punished, brutally, by a left-footed cushioned volley back into the other corner.
"Thanks and good night. Argentina or Australia it is.
"And if it is the Albiceleste, it’s memories of Gelsenkirchen in 1974, Buenos Aires in 1978 and Marseille and THAT Bergkamp goal in 1998."
86. Netherlands 3-1 USA
Xavi Simons is on for the Netherlands.
He has history with Barcelona and PSG, so is not short on pedigree.
Aged just 19, the Dutch star has scored 10 goals for PSV this season in the Eredivisie.
84. Netherlands 3-1 USA
It's the man who has been excellent tonight, it's the man of the match, it's Denzel Dumfries!
He has bossed the game tonight.
Blind got down the left-hand side, and played a perfect delivery into Dumfries at the back post, who tapped home with his left foot.
82. Netherlands 3-1 USA
It's three! It's game over! It's Denzel Dumfries!
80. Netherlands 2-1 USA
We have Martin Lipton's expert analysis to bring you of that goal from the Khalifa...
"Hang on…..we might, might, might have a game.
"Although you can spend the next week trying to convince me that Wright meant it. And you still won’t succeed.
"Seconds earlier the substitute latched onto an errant back pass but took himself too wide and had an angle that was cut off on the line.
"But when Pulisic is slipped in down the right, Wright, in front of the ball, somehow manages to loop it up in the air and into the corner.
"If it was a snooker table, it would have been a trick shot. Astonishing."
78. Netherlands 2-1 USA
It is a miracle goal for USA!
DeAndre Yedlin is bought onto the pitch, and instantly splits the Dutch defence with a through ball.
It is played into the middle by Pulisic, and Haji Wright somehow flicks the ball high over the keeper, and it loops into the back of the net.
The comeback is on!
76. Netherlands 2-1 USA
They are back in it, it's not over yet! Haji Wright scores a mess of a goal, but it's a goal!
74. Netherlands 2-0 USA
Plenty in the stands, not much on the pitch according to Martin Lipton who writes the following...
"A naturalist writes: lots of birds in the rafters of the Khalifa International Stadium.
"They’re tweeting away (that’s with a lower-case ‘t’).
"You can see why they love a falcon in these parts.
"On the pitch…crickets!"
That is an update from Martin Lipton, SunSport reporter, Mexican wave hater, and David Attenborough understudy.
72. Netherlands 2-0 USA
That is a fantastic double save by Arsenal backup goalkeeper Matt Turner.
Initially he denies Koopmeiners from distance, before Memphis Depay looks nailed on to get his brace with the rebound.
But Turner jumps up and denies him from close range.
Great goalkeeping.
70. Netherlands 2-0 USA
Still no luck for the USA, and to be honest the Netherlands look as though they are going to cruise into the quarter-finals against the winner of tonight's match.
66. Netherlands 2-0 USA
Two more changes for the USA, as they seek to find a way back into this game.
Haji Wright is on for Weston McKennie, and Brenden Aaronson replaces Timothy Weah.
64. Netherlands 2-0 USA
It's not only us who have given up on them, the US seem to have given up on themselves.
We have an update from Martin Lipton, who is inside the stadium...
"Sorry, but US have neither the wit nor the invention to get back into this - unless the Dutch completely throw it away.
"All too easy for van Dijk and Co to repel the set-pieces slung hopefully towards the box.
"American fans have given up the ghost as well."
62. Netherlands 2-0 USA
A fantastic effort from Memphis Depay is turned over the bar by Turner.
The resulting corner is whipped in nicely, but Turner is then fouled by Van Dijk, and it will be a free-kick to the US.
60. Netherlands 2-0 USA
An hour gone, half an hour still to play.
Unless...
58. Netherlands 2-0 USA
Denzel Dumfries has been senational so far.
Strong defensively and particularly strong in the offensive phase.
Two perfect cut backs for both goals makes you think it won't be long before he is linked with Chelsea and Newcastle.
Time for Todd Boehly to get his wallet out, perhaps.
56. Netherlands 2-0 USA
Martin Lipton has an update for us from Qatar...
"All feels like a game too far for the USA, although their fans perked up when Reyna’s interval arrival off the bench was announced.
"Chances for both teams at the start of the second half as well.
"Once again Dumfries gets in down the right - Robinson having the sort of day that might have seen him hooked by Fulham - and Memphis will probably admit he should have tied it up for sure."
54. Netherlands 2-0 USA
Meat and drink for Noppert.
Pulisic gets the ball on the left-hand side and cuts inside before unleashing a shot on goal, but it is easily saved by Noppert.
