Man Utd legend urges club to bring back former star if they want to compete for Premier League title
MANCHESTER UNITED legend Jaap Stam believes a fellow ex-Red Devils star needs to be brought back to Old Trafford.
Erik ten Hag has made a positive start to life in England, guiding Man Utd to fifth place in the Premier League table prior to the World Cup break.
But they remain a way off challenging for the title - which they have not won since the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013.
And Stam, who won the Treble with United in 1999, believes a former colleague of Ten Hag's could help the club return to the glory years.
Legendary Man Utd keeper Edwin van der Sar, 52, has been on the board at Ajax since 2016.
He worked superbly with Ten Hag during the Dutch manager's time with the Eredivisie giants.
