Kenny Dalglish honours Gary Player on his 81st birthday with gruelling sit-up session

Former Liverpool star uploaded the video to Twitter in honour of South African golf legend

KENNY DALGLISH honoured Gary Player on his 81st birthday with a gruelling sit-up session.

The Liverpool legend claims to have completed 81 sit-ups in a post on his Twitter account.

The stunt was a nod to Player's claim that his rigorous fitness regime was the reason behind his success on the golf course. The South African says he still performs over 1,000 sit-ups a day.

Dalglish, 65, captioned a video of himself finishing the workout: "Happy Birthday @GaryPlayer! Definitely no cheating involved! (laughing emoji) #81situps4Gary"

In the short clip Dalglish can be heard counting up from 75 as he completes sit-ups on the floor.

He also praised Player, gushing: "Happy birthday Gary. You've been an inspiration for many, many young people and long may it continue.
