, the kit celebrates the "lunisolar Chinese calendar" - though similar celebrations take place in a host of other countries including Vietnam and Singapore with some distinct differences.

This year is represented by the zodiac sign of the Rabbit, which features special embroidery on the back of the kit.

The dark blue and golden trim kit is also "made with at least 20% recycled material."

The kit's striking look, donned by stars such as Erling Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne in promotional material, drew the attention of many fans.

Taking to Twitter, one user said: "This is just stupid gorgeous 😮‍💨."

A second user pleaded: "Make this our away kit next season."

A third simply said: "Dope…."

However, the stipulations which come with the kit left a sour taste for some.

One user blasted the price tag, saying: "Way too expensive! £70 while in a cost-of-living crisis (is) way too much!

"This is upsetting because I love the kit but needs to be cheaper!"

A second user wanted the club to adopt it as their new third kit, declaring: "The number of 3rd kit blunders we've made and this kit won't ever be used as a third is poor."

A third user queried: "Why can't they wear this kit at least once?"

The Lunar Year of the Rabbit will be ushered in on January 22.

Funnily enough, City will be in action against Wolves on that day.

But first of all the Cityzens will focus their attention on their Carabao Cup clash against Southampton on Wednesday, before shifting their attention to Saturday's Manchester derby.
