England’s Lioness hero and SPOTY winner Beth Mead left heartbroken after beloved mum dies of ovarian cancer
LIONESSES heroine Beth Mead last night spoke of her heartache as she revealed her mum had died from ovarian cancer.
Forward Beth, 27, who played in last year’s Euro 2022 final victory over Germany, said June had “passed away peacefully”.
It comes only weeks after the Arsenal star was crowned the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.
June was diagnosed with the disease in 2021.
Beth said she, brother Ben, 25, and dad Richard were with her when she lost her battle last Saturday.
In a moving tribute online, Beth wrote: “Our hearts are broken. There will be a piece missing forever but heaven has now gained a special angel.

She accompanied her tribute with a modified snap of her and her mum holding hands captioned “Till we meet again”.
She described June as “beautiful, kind, funny”.
