It comes only weeks after the Arsenal star was crowned the BBC’s Sports Personality of the Year.

June was diagnosed with the disease in 2021.

Beth said she, brother Ben, 25, and dad Richard were with her when she lost her battle last Saturday.

In a moving tribute online, Beth wrote: “Our hearts are broken. There will be a piece missing forever but heaven has now gained a special angel.

“I’m sad that you are gone, but I’m more grateful for the time we had together.”

Beth, who was made an MBE in the New Year Honours list, went on: “If love could have saved you, you would have lived forever.”

She accompanied her tribute with a modified snap of her and her mum holding hands captioned “Till we meet again”.

She described June as “beautiful, kind, funny”.

The player, who also included a snap of her and June with the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 final trophy, added: “We love you lots, forever & always. RIP Mama.”

Football stars offered their own condolences.

BBC pundit, England stalwart and former Arsenal captain Alex Scott, 38, posted: “Sending you and all your family so much love.”

Beth’s Arsenal teammate Leah Williamson, 25, added: “Love you all the world.”

Gunners legend Ian Wright, 59, said: “Love you.”

Beth, who beat England cricket captain Ben Stokes and snooker’s Ronnie O’Sullivan to the BBC sports personality award last month, appealed for privacy.
