However, Ten Hag has warned his side they will face a different test against an "annoying" opponent.

Speaking ahead of the game, Ten Hag said: "It's a great team, they have a clear philosophy about how they want to play the game.

“The key word is intensity, they do really well, but they're an annoying team to play against, so we have to find a way to win.

"They try to annoy you. We have to play our game and focus on our game."

The ex-Ajax boss then elaborated on his meaning, adding: "For instance, so if you see the referee want to play an effective time.

"They have the lowest in the league and they are quite successful with it.

"So it's up to us that we get speed in the game and we are also then dependent on the refereeing as well."

Both sides have been hit with blows ahead of the final, after Nick Pope was handed a straight red card for handling the ball against Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford is now doubtful for the Wembley clash after picking up an injury against Barcelona.

The showdown will be the Red Devils first chance to win a trophy in over half a decade, while Newcastle are hoping to land some major silverware for the first time since 1955.
