PRESTON boss Ryan Lowe has joked that Rangers can "give them £20million quid" if they want to land goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

SunSport exclusively revealed today that the Light Blues are plotting a £3.5m summer move for the 25-year old shot stopper.

Rangers boss Michael Beale is on the lookout for a new No.1 in the next transfer window and Woodman is firmly on his radar.

Scouts have been to watch the former Aberdeen and Kilmarnock loanee in action, and saw him keep a clean sheet against Coventry earlier this week.

Woodman has emerged as a target as with 41-year old Allan McGregor likely to depart when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

Preston gaffer Lowe says he isn't surprised to see his goalie linked with a move away, insisting it's just the 'natural' way of things given his form.

However, if Rangers want him then Woodman will come at a BIG price.

Responding to the Gers' interest, and with a cheeky grin on his face, Lowe said: "Good. They can give us £20million quid for him if they want him! Joking.

"I don't know what he's worth, Fred, but we know he's a top, top keeper.

"If he continues to get them clean sheets, then that's just the natural thing. There will be talk of clubs and interest in him, let alone them type of clubs.

"He's an England international as well and there's not many of them good keepers around.

"For us, we knew we were signing a top goalkeeper and he just needs to continue his good form.

"Everyone has dips and Fred had a dip a few weeks ago and he wasn't quite happy with the performance but now he's back to collecting clean sheets.

"If he can get another six clean sheets out of the next 12 games then that's 20 clean sheets he'll have had. Wow.

"Listen, we'll help him get that, the defenders will help him."
