Liverpool flop Iago Aspas beats Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo to La Liga Player of the Month award
Aspas spent two fruitless years at Anfield, but he's back on form with Celta Vigo in Spain
IAGO ASPAS did not have the best of times at Liverpool, but back at Celta Vigo he's a king among men.
The striker came through the academy in Northwestern Spain and now he's picked up the La Liga Player of the Month award.
He scored five goals in five games in October, including one in Celta's famous 4-3 win over Barcelona.
It's all a far cry from the £7m Liverpool signing who failed to score a single goal at the club.
The main thing fans at Anfield remember about his spell at the club is the infamous 2-0 defeat at home to Chelsea when he took one of the worst corners in football history.

Deep into injury time with the Reds 1-0 down, Aspas played a sidefoot pass towards the edge of the box and somehow managed to miss every Liverpool player by a mile and perfectly pick out Chelsea's Willian.
So the last thing Liverpool fans would have expected is to see him pick up an award won by the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez, Antoine Griezmann and Diego Costa.
Aspas last played for Liverpool in 2014 before going on loan to Sevilla, who signed him a year later and then sold him straight back to Celta for around £4m.
