LIKE FATHER, LIKE SON

Ricky Hatton’s son Campbell scores quickest win of career in just 1min 29secs of first round with vicious body shot

CAMPBELL HATTON produced the best performance of his young career with a one-round body shot KO right out of legendary dad Ricky’s handbook.

The 22-year-old moved to 11-0 by beating journeyman Louis Fielding at the O2 with a peach of a left hook to the ribs that winded the 32-year-old and dropped him.

The Tamworth man tried to recover but the referee Kieran McCann had to count him out.

The Hurricane was pushed too-far-too-soon at the start of his career and got a very fortunate home decision in 2021 when he boxed on the undercard of Anthony Joshua’s Tottenham loss to Oleksandr Usyk.

Since that near miss, his last seven have been more low profile and he has quietly improved while taking in fights in Spain, Manchester, Liverpool and Dubai.

And he has clearly learned and improved bundles under trainer and uncle Matthew - another proud former pro - and can now start pushing toward domestic titles.

“I took my time and picked my shot,” he grinned.

“It was a split-second shot but a delayed reaction from him.

“It would have been nice to show a bit more because in previous fights I have rushed my work and not replicated what I do in the gym.

“In sparring I show lots of things over lots of rounds but I will happily take one-round wins all the time.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn added: "That was a great performance, a cracker, that is the development he has shown.

"We have thrown him in the deep end, with limited experience, I hope he is getting that respect.

"Now it is keep on developing, really good prospect."
