Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou emerges as one of the FAVOURITES to be next Leicester manager after Brendan Rodgers’ axe
CELTIC boss Ange Postecoglou has been installed as one of the favourites to become the next Leicester manager.
That's after the Foxes SACKED ex-Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers following a horror run of results.
Rodgers, 50, has been axed after Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace left Leicester in the Premier League's relegation zone.
And with just 10 games of the season left, club chiefs decided they had to act.
It's been a dramatic fall in fortunes for Leicester, who finished in the top half in all of Rodgers' previous seasons in charge and won the FA Cup two years ago.
He leaves just over four years on from his shock decision to leave Celtic to take the job at the King Power Stadium.
Attention now turns to who will replace Rodgers as Leicester look to keep a hold of their top division status.
In the hours that followed Rodgers' departure, it was Rafa Benitez who was installed as the initial favourite.
The former Liverpool and Newcastle boss is out of work following his sacking by Everton last year.
However, the managerial drama wasn't over and before the night was over ANOTHER Premier League boss lost his job.
That's after Chelsea sacked Graham Potter amid a horror run of form that culminated in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.
And in a twist of fate, Potter is now the bookies' favourite to make an instant return with Leicester.
After Potter and Benitez and now the third-favourite for the Foxes gig is Postecoglou.
His odds, however, have got longer and he's now at 12/1 with Sky Bet.
Former Rangers manager Steven Gerrard is also a contender at the same price.
Another former Celtic boss, Neil Lennon, has also been ranked as an outside contender by Betfair with odds of 16/1.
Postecoglou's name has come up throughout the season in terms of being linked to English Premier League vacancies.
He was quickly installed as one of the leading contenders to replace Jesse Marsch at Leeds back in February but was quick to distance himself from the links.
That job went to Javi Gracia in the end.
Celtic regained their nine-point lead at the top of the Premiership with a 2-0 win over Ross County in Dingwall.
