Furious footie bosses are now “reviewing” arrangements for Three Lions aces’ days off.

The news came as captain Wayne Rooney issued a grovelling apology for his drunken antics in the team’s hotel.

FA bigwigs are said to be furious at how players partied into the night on Saturday after being given time off between games.

The Sun revealed this week how captain Wayne Rooney sank red wine during a wedding bash at the Three Lions’ Hertfordshire hotel, where guests claimed he was “paralytic”.

And, as he apologised yesterday, it was understood that several more aces went to a local nightclub where they partied till 4.30am on Sunday — the day they had been told to report back.

Football’s governing body issued a statement warning players over their behaviour and responsibilities as England internationals.

It is understood all the players involved have been or will be spoken to over the matter and dealt with under the players’ code of conduct.

A spokesman said: “All England personnel have a responsibility to behave appropriately at all times.

“We will be reviewing our policy around free time whilst on international duty.”

England beat Scotland 3-0 last Friday night under interim boss Gareth Southgate.

One football source said: “If they had a permanent manager, this would not have erupted — but the ship is a bit rudderless.

“The FA are having to carry the can. Some of the Premier League managers are very unhappy. The FA blazers are in a panic — their statement is a touch economical with the truth. As an organisation, they don’t seem like they have taken proper care.”

Rooney’s Manchester United club boss Jose Mourinho is also said to be fuming over FA staff being present while the star got drunk.

Rooney had been joined by Everton defender Phil Jagielka and other England stars as they had a boozy party into the early hours at The Grove hotel in Chandler’s Cross.

In a statement issued on his behalf, the star’s spokesman said: “Naturally Wayne is sorry that pictures taken with fans have been published today.

“Although it was a day off for the whole squad and staff, he fully recognises that the images are inappropriate for someone in his position.

“Earlier today Wayne spoke privately to both Gareth Southgate and [FA technical director] Dan Ashworth to unreservedly apologise.

“He would like to further extend that apology to any young fans who have seen these pictures.”
