Man Utd star Lisandro Martinez breaks silence after being ruled out for season with foot injury
MANCHESTER UNITED star Lisandro Martinez has vowed to come back stronger, after injury cut his season short.
The Argentinian World Cup winner was carried off against Sevilla in tears in the Europa League quarter-final on Thursday.
After the game, the defender, 25, was spotted leaving Old Trafford on crutches and in a protective boot.
A cub statement later confirmed: “Lisandro Martínez has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after fracturing a metatarsal bone in his foot. However, the Argentinian defender is expected to make a full recovery in time to be ready for the start of next season."
Now, Martinez has broken his silence about the devastating news.
He wrote on his social media channels: “Not the way I imagined what’s been a very special season would end, but sometimes we face obstacles along the way that we have to overcome to make us stronger and we learn from them.

“I know that I’ll be back soon to go for more. In the meantime, I’ll continue to support my team-mates to achieve our objectives.
“The messages and support I’ve received has been amazing, they’re giving me strength and encouragement.
“Thanks to you all from the bottom of my heart.”
Martinez has been instrumental in Erik ten Hag's side rise, as they won the League Cup and are challenging for a Champions League spot in the league.
