Fans fume as referee ‘lets play go on’ with Digne covered in blood after brutal blow to the face
ASTON VILLA fans were left fuming after Lucas Digne suffered a nasty cut to the face against Brentford.
Bees ace Bryan Mbeumo accidentally caught Digne with a high boot leaving the Villa man bleeding, but referee Michael Salisbury did not blow for a foul.
Villa fans were left incensed when the whistle didn't blow, despite Digne bleeding on the deck.
According to , there were chants of "you're not fit to referee" from the travelling fans following the incident.
Fans on social media also raged at the decision.
One blasted: "How on earth is that now a foul on Digne?"

A second said: "He’s *LITERALLY* bleeding from his eye from a stud to the face!?"
And part of another tweet fumed at Salisbury letting "play go on whilst he's down with a head injury".
Digne himself also took to after the game, posting a picture of his painful looking cut.
He sarcastically captioned the snap with a laughing emoji: "#nofreekick."

Digne was ok to continue after being patched up by club doctors.
The Frenchman was a 66th substitute in the match against Brentford, coming on for Alex Moreno.
Ivan Toney broke the deadlock in West London, firing the hosts ahead on 65 minutes.
But Douglas Luiz equalised in the 87th minute to salvage a point for Unai Emery's side.
The result leaves Villa sixth in the Premier League table and unbeaten in nine outings.
Brentford meanwhile are currently tenth, having failed to win any of their last six games.
The Bees return to action on Wednesday with a trip to Chelsea, while Villa host Fulham on Tuesday.
