RYAN REYNOLDS and Rob McElhenney led the huge celebrations at Wrexham's promotion party.

The club hired out three open-top buses to parade through the streets of the town - and the Hollywood actor co-owners were on board.

And thousands of supporters turned out to join in the wild scenes.

But plenty of viewers were left baffled by the BBC's dedicated live coverage.

One said: "Well done to Wrexham. Not sure, though, how their victory parade is "Breaking News" on BBC News."

Another wrote: "Sorry. Great for Wrexham AFC but would National BBC 6pm news have live coverage of the parade without the celebrities? They are champions of Division 5."

And a third added: "The BBC Wrexham obsession along with other media outlets is ridiculous, can’t remember Stockport County getting this much attention last year."

Wrexham's men's team won the National League after an epic title race with Notts County.

A 3-1 win over Boreham Wood secured promotion back into the EFL for the first time in 15 years and prompted emotional scenes at the Racecourse Ground before securing a record-breaking 111 points.

Star striker Paul Mullin, who scored 38 league goals this term, revealed he managed just 20 minutes of sleep on a physio's table at 6am following a wild night of celebrations.

Mullin, 28, told the : "We went out, we went into a local bar!

"But when we got there it was just too packed, honestly, it was chaos - just people everywhere in the streets!

"So, we set off back from there to the stadium to all be together and spend a bit of time with each other.

"Because, in there you just couldn't move because there were so many people!

"It was an unbelievable night, and 6am comes, and I'm climbing on to a physio's bed to try and get some kip!"

The Wrexham players were gifted a £1,000 bottle of whiskey by the A-list owners and pocketed a share of a cool £200,000 bonus - and will continue their promotion party with a trip to Las Vegas.

There was double delight for the Red Dragons this season, though, as the women's team also secured promotion from the Welsh second tier into the Adran Premier League.
