However, Tyler had to call in sick because he was feeling unwell.

Rob Hawthorne stepped up to take over from him.

Tyler had a sore throat the previous weekend when commentating on Arsenal's 3-0 loss to Brighton.

The veteran soldiered on but could not do so to see City lift the title as his symptoms got worse.

Tyler, 77, has a voice synonymous with Premier League football and has been part of Sky's coverage for over 30 years.

He began work as a commentator at ITV, first picking up the microphone in 1975.

TV chiefs loved him and he soon made his way up the ranks before joining Sky.

He has since been part of iconic moments, such as Sergio Aguero's last-gasp title winner for City in 2012.
