Dean Henderson ‘has ‘p****d off Man Utd boss Erik ten Hag’ and won’t bag No1 spot with David de Gea yet to sign contract

DEAN HENDERSON will not succeed David de Gea as Manchester United's first-choice keeper because he has "p****d off" Erik ten Hag, according to reports.

Henderson, 26, spent last season on loan at fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

He made 20 appearances for Steve Cooper's men before suffering a thigh injury which ruled him out for the remainder of the campaign.

Now he is set to return to Old Trafford - less than 12 months after he slammed the club's treatment of him.

The No1 spot could be up for grabs in Ten Hag's side as De Gea is out of contract and it is unclear whether or not he will pen a new deal.

But understands Henderson does not have a good relationship with the Red Devils boss - who saw the keeper depart just days before his first training session last summer.

They report that a source said the keeper had "p****d off" his boss.

Henderson is also believed to have turned down a return to the club mid-season when they were searching for a back-up to De Gea.

When he declined to cut his loan short, Man Utd eventually signed Jack Butland.

Forest boss Cooper is thought to be keen to agree a permanent deal for Henderson after they avoided Premier League relegation.

And a failure to ensure his first-choice status at Man Utd is expected to see him try to force an exit.

After joining Forest at the beginning of last season, Henderson said: "The conversation I had, coming out of the Euros squad was that you're coming back here to be the No1 goalkeeper.

"I got Covid, then unfortunately no one followed through with anything they told me.

"I turned so many good loans down last summer for that reason and they wouldn't let me go.

"To waste 12 months was criminal at my age. I was fuming. It was so frustrating."
