Chelsea captain Cesar Azpilicueta ‘in talks over Champions League transfer with star wanting new experience’
CHELSEA captain Cesar Azplicueta is set to leave the club and is in talks with Inter Milan, according to reports.
The Spaniard sees his deal expire in the summer of 2024 and he is no closer to penning a new contract.
Therefore, Chelsea are looking to cash-in and sell the versatile defender.
Azpilicueta has been with the Blues for eleven seasons and has played 508 times since joining from Marseille for £7million in 2012.
He is a club legend, helping the team win two Premier League titles and the Champions League.
However, the 33-year-old wants to go and is seeking a “new experience”.
The player is reportedly keen on a move to Inter Milan with negotiations ongoing.
Azpilicueta was close to leaving last summer for Barcelona but the move did not materialise and he instead signed a new contract.
He could again join forces with Romelu Lukaku at Inter if he makes his loan move permanent.
Chelsea are looking to trim their bloated squad and make room for new additions.
