Moises Caicedo transfer race blown wide open after interview about his ‘dream’ club re-emerges

THE transfer race for Moises Caicedo has been blown open after an interview about his "dream" re-emerged.

The Brighton star is one of the hottest prospects in European football having impressed over the last 18 months.

Caicedo, 21, is wanted by some of the Premier League's biggest sides with Chelsea and Arsenal both highly interested in his services.

While Manchester United are also monitoring his situation as he is seen as an alternative to Mason Mount.

And the Red Devils have been boosted in their hopes of landing the Ecuadorian international ahead of their rivals.

Back in 2020, Caicedo revealed that he wanted to "follow" the "example" of compatriot Antonio Valencia by playing for Man United.

He said: "My dream is to play for Manchester United.

"Antonio Valencia is an example to follow. With his strength and dedication, he was able to get to that level.

"That motivates me to keep working hard and do the right things."

United were interested in signing the midfielder before his move to Europe but missed out on his signature to Brighton.

After a spell on loan at Belgian outfit Beerschot, he was brought back to the South Coast in 2021 and went on to become a vital member of the team.

Erik ten Hag's side are looking for a new midfielder this summer.

The club will need to sign a replacement for the outgoing Marcel Sabitzer once his loan expires while Fred is also a target for Fulham.

United have seen three bids rejected for Chelsea's Mount and are now looking to poach Caicedo from under their noses.

The England international is now thought to be a target for Bayern Munich as the Bundesliga side have been linked with a move of their own.
