Erik ten Hag is desperate to add to his squad this summer ahead of a campaign in the Champions League.

One area in particular is in midfield with Marcel Sabitzer, Donny van der Beek and Fred among those that could leave the club this summer.

Mount was viewed as the top target, especially as his contract is set to expire at Stamford Bridge next summer.

However, a deal had proved tough to get over the line as Chelsea ideally want to keep hold of Mount.

And according to , United feel that selling clubs are raising prices on transfer specifically for them.

This has been seen on arrivals such as Harry Maguire and Antony.

It appears that United are prepared to move on from Mount after the club's representatives contacted Brighton over a potential deal for Moises Caicedo.

The report claims that the Red Devils would be prepared to pay more for the Ecuadorian than the Englishman.

The Seagulls are hoping for £100m for the midfielder and have also had interest from Chelsea.

However, it is thought that United's interest could be a ploy to annoy the Blues as they also try to sign him.

Brighton are in a strong position over Caicedo as he signed a new contract in February that runs until 2027.

United had the chance to sign Caicedo before his 2020 transfer to Brighton from Independiente del Valle for £4.5m.

But the club did not take up the option to sign the player, who has admitted to dreaming of playing for United, and he moved to the South Coast instead.
