The American said: "I was recently diagnosed with a host of neurodevelopmental disorders and learning disabilities! At 46!

"I go through the full diagnosis/prognosis on the @thesunnypodcast (which drops in 2 weeks).

"It’s not something I would normally talk about publicly but I figured there are others who struggle with similar things and I wanted to remind you that you’re not alone."

McElhenney then issued a message to others suffering from neurodevelopmental disorders.

He added: "You’re not stupid. You’re not 'bad'. It might feel that way sometimes. But it’s not true :)"

The A-list actor was flooded with messages of support, with one of his followers commenting: "Thank you for being so open and honest.

"Looking forward to listening to the podcast."

Another said: "Your openness is great for neurodivergent folks like me."

And another said: "So amazing Rob, thank you for sharing and helping thousands who may be struggling."

One remarked: "Appreciate your strength to be open."

Another chimed in: "Great attitude. Thank you for spreading awareness on this."

McElhenney - along with fellow Hollywood superstar Ryan Reynolds - oversaw Wrexham's return to the Football League last season.

The Red Dragons ended their 15-year absence from the Football League by pipping Notts County to the National League title.

McElhenney and Reynolds were part of the team's open-top bus parade in May.

When pressed on the club's plans for the transfer window, McElhenney said: "We defer to Phil [Parkinson.

"We are actively talking about that right now.

"I know for a fact he feels as though we have a very strong side.

"No decision that we have made over the last two years hasn't kept the future in mind, so we never make a short-term decision.

"Any player that we have signed, we have signed to at least a three-year deal, except for one [goalkeeper Ben Foster].

"He is the guy we are going to work on, but other than that, I think we have a very strong side."
