Fifa have ordered all football clubs to perform a minute’s silence before their matches this weekend

Brazilian Serie A side Chapecoense lost 19 lives including players and staff in a horrifc plane crash on Monday in Colombia

FIFA have called on clubs from all over the globe to hold a minute's silence before they kick off their matches this weekend to remember the victims of the Colombia plane crash. 

71 of the 77 passengers lost their lives in the accident, including 19 players from Brazilian top flight side Chapecoense.

The team were on their way to play the first leg of the Copa Sudamericana final first leg, the South American equivalent of the Europa League.

Its a tragic moment for football with Fifa also asking players to wear black armbands to remembers those have died in this horrific incident .

Some matches in Europe have already held a moment of silence with EFL Cup ties and top flight European leagues in action.

The crash has shocked football with players, coaches and supporters mourning the deaths of the Chapecoense players who had achieved great things this season.

They were considered the under dogs of South America and compared to Leicester City after reaching the final of the Copa Sudamericana.

The football world will come together and unite with touching tributes expected through out Europe and the rest of the world.

Three Chapecoense players have survived the plane crash,  Alan Ruschel , Jackson Follman and Zampier Neto, with Neto being told he will be able to return to football once he has recovered.

Thousands of fans have paid tribute to the victims in Chapecoense stadium Arena Conda to pay their respects and honour the players that they will never see play again.
