STATS, FACTS, GOALS & LOLS

  • Mark Hughes kept the same Stoke side from their win at Watford - and that meant no start for Joe Allen and Wilfried Bony.
  • Andre Gray was back for Burnley after a stint on the bench following his FA ban and a change of system.
  • Jack Butland has given Stoke a scare. The England keeper needs a new scan on his knee after pulling out of a warm-up game.
  • Jon Walters scored his first goal for the Potters this season. His only other strikes were for the Republic of Ireland against Oman in a friendly in August.
  • Marc Muniesa's magnificent strike was his first in the Premier League. His previous goals came in the League Cup.
  • Ref Mark Clattenburg booked Muniesa after he dragged back Andre Gray, angering Burnley as the striker was about to shoot when he stopped play.
  • Burnley fans sang the name of Joey Barton as they pleaded for their old boy to be signed on when the window opens next month.
  • Marko Arnautovic was left limping with a sore ankle and may be a doubt when Stoke go to Arsenal next weekend.

WHAT THEY SAID

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes:

"First half some of our stuff was really good, progressive, and second half was clearly different and we had to stand up to the challenge of Burnley going really direct and cope with the physicality of that."

Burnley manager Sean Dyche:

"Gamesmanship was on show again, they do it well, better than we do, we are a bit green.

"You have to manage the game through gamesmanship and they did that well."
