Man City ‘find immediate Riyad Mahrez replacement’ as they line up transfer for player who Kylian Mbappe is in awe of
MANCHESTER CITY are eyeing up Rennes and Belgium star Jeremy Doku as a replacement for Riyad Mahrez, according to reports.
The 21-year-old has registered 11 goals and 10 assists in 90 appearances for the Ligue 1 side.
But now he is being linked with a huge move to Pep Guardiola‘s Treble winners.
According to , Doku has been added to the list of potential replacements for Mahrez.
He joins Crystal Palace star Michael Olise as an attacker being considered by the Premier League champions.
But Chelsea are also interested in Olise – so Doku could become the lone frontrunner for Man City.
As well as an impressive stint with Rennes, Doku has also impressed for the Belgium national team.
He has already racked up 14 appearances for his country, scoring two goals and providing three assists.
And he was particularly impressive at the Euros two years ago.
Paris Saint-Germain superstar Kylian Mbappe even named him as someone he was impressed with back in 2021.
He said: “Recently I was talking with my father about which players impressed me when I was injured.
“One of them, because of his speed, is Jeremy Doku from Rennes.
“In five years as a professional football player, I have never seen someone develop so much strength from a standstill as him.”
Meanwhile, Mahrez left Man City to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli in a £30million deal.
He joins several former Premier League stars at the club – Edouard Mendy, Allan Saint-Maximin and Roberto Firmino.
The Algerian, 32, left Man City having contributed 78 goals and 59 assists in 236 appearances.
He won four Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups and three Carabao Cups during his time at the Etihad.
