Tiger Woods admits long-awaited return has been a rollercoaster
Former world No 1 has been out for the past 16 months after back surgery
TIGER WOODS admitted his long-awaited return to action was more rollercoaster than masterclass.
Former world No 1 Woods, 40, fired a four-over 76 on the final day of his first event in 16 months following back surgery.
Woods, who ended the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas on a four-under total of 284, showed his class with five birdies yesterday.
But there were also three bogeys and three double-bogeys as he finished 15th out of 17.
Now world No 898, Woods said: “It feels a little weird not to play in a cart. I’m getting used to that, getting my body back. Getting back even to this point has tested me to beyond anything before in my lifetime.
“The pain, the issues I have had, were rough and there were some pretty dire times where I just could not move. Those were scary times.
“So it was great to be back competing and playing against the best players in the world.
“Unfortunately, I made a lot of mistakes and some poor decisions.
