Will the famous celebration by 100m sprint king Usain Bolt be back on show in his farewell Championships?

THE world's elite athletes will descend on London's Olympic Park once again as the capital gears up to host the IAAF World Championships.

The UK was blessed back in 2012 to host the Olympic Games and similar feelings of euphoria and pride will return for the 2017 summer of athletics.

Here, we tell you all you need to know about what promises to be a special celebration of talent, and hopefully Team GB success once again in London.

When and where are the World Athletic Championships 2017?

London's Queen Elizabeth Park will be the venue, just like it was back in 2012, for elite level championship athletics.

The World ParaAthletics Champions will kick things off, running from 14-23 July.

Then the IAAF World Championships take centre stage, starting on August 4 up until August 13.

The decision to award the Championships to London was made back in 2011, with the UK capital beating Doha to host the spectacle. It was London's fourth bid in 15 years to host the event.

What are the key events at the World Championships?

The Championships are expected to be sprint sensation and 100m world record holder Usain Bolt's last at elite-level. To celebrate the occasion, the London 2017 committee have set children's tickets at £9.58 for the 100m final - in recognition of Bolt's world record time.

And Team GB legend Mo Farah is also set to end his track career after the World Championships - but not ruled out continuing his marathon racing.

He will line up in the 5,000m and the 10,000m, and will be a strong favourite to complete another "London double" in front of his adoring fans.

And fresh from his twinkle-toes on hit BBC show Strictly Come Dancing, Greg Rutherford will be looking to grab London gold in the long jump.

One popular face will be missing from the celebration, however, after Jess Ennis-Hill announced her retirement from athletics. Can Katarina Johnson-Thompson, long seen as the next in line to carry the baton for Team GB's heptathletes, realise her potential in London?

Where can I get tickets for the World Athletic Championships?

Tickets went on sale back on August 1 this year, and unsurprisingly there were more requests to get onto the ballot than there were tickets available.

A batch of around 100,000, including for some of the major events, then went back on sale on November 28, through the website

These were put on sale due to failed payments for those in the ballot, or left over from the main sale.

Although these were snapped up pretty quickly, it's worth checking back on the website should any more go back on general sale.
