Al-Ettifaq issue Liverpool APOLOGY after Jordan Henderson kit issue that will leave fans raging

AL-ETTIFAQ have apologised to Liverpool fans for putting "E.F.C" on the back of Jordan Henderson's shirt.

The former Reds captain, 33, penned a lucrative £700,000-a-week deal with the Saudi Pro League side last month.

He links up with Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard - who was recently appointed head coach of the Middle East outfit.

Following Henderson's arrival, Al-Ettifaq launched their new green kit with a picture of the midfielder in the No10 shirt and the abbreviation "E.F.C" above it.

This is the same initials as Liverpool's bitter Merseyside rivals Everton.

And Al-Ettifaq acknowledged that on social media as they issued an apology to Reds supporters.

They tweeted: "Sorry to all the @LFC fans for putting E.F.C on Hendo’s [Henderson] back. At least it’s not blue.

"Better get that number 10 kit before it runs out."

In response, one Liverpool fan said: "None of us are buying it anyway, mate. Put whatever you want on it."

Another added: "Literally none of us care, we aren’t buying your shirt."

Henderson has received a huge backlash to his move to Al-Ettifaq.

He has previously been an outspoken ally of the LGBTQ+ community, but has now sealed a transfer to a country where homosexuality is illegal.

The announcement video for the England international saw Al-Ettifaq change his rainbow armband to black and white.

Henderson, who has earned 77 England caps, left Liverpool having racked up 492 appearances, 33 goals and 61 assists for the club.
