Who is Luke Stoltman?

Luke Stoltman, born November 22, 1984, is a Scottish strongman competitor.

Born in Invergordon in the Scottish Highlands, Luke found a passion for fitness and strength training from a young age and began weight training from the age of 15.

Initially training as a bodybuilder, he later became more interested in strength and went on to enter and win his first contest – a local deadlift competition in 2011.

In 2019, Luke made the decision to commit to full-time training, leaving his job in the oil and gas industry to focus solely on fulfilling his potential as a strongman competitor.

What is Luke Stoltman’s relation to World’s strongest man Tom Stoltman?

Luke Stoltman is the eldest brother of fellow professional strongman competitor and former World’s Strongest Man, Tom Stoltman.

Inspired by his brother’s success, Tom took up weight training in the local gym at the age of 16.

Within just 12 months, Tom was showing such potential that sibling Luke made the decision to take him under his wing and guide him through training for strongman.

Tom Stoltman has since won the World’s Strongest Man competition two consecutive times.

In November 2023, Tom and Luke, who have been dubbed the “World’s Strongest Brothers”, shared a glimpse of their strongman lifestyle.

Before vital competitions, the pair consume around 10,000 calories per day – the average man needs just 2,500.

Tom told : “It starts with one of my favourites which is a pancake blowout.

“I can eat as many pancakes as I want with as many sweets, as much chocolate or as much ice cream as I want for breakfast, so it’s a good start to the day.”

Luke added: “This is the more extreme end of the diet, so for Tom and I we usually consume over a kilo of meat a day.

“It could be 10 eggs for breakfast, lunch would be 350g of mince and we’d either have pasta or potatoes or rice with that and accompanied with some veg.

“Then if we go into a competition that’s when we’re wanting to get in the most calories so it would be a fast food sort of meal like a double patty burger with fries and I’m partial to a strawberry tart.”

How long has Luke Stoltman competed in powerlifting?

Luke’s powerlifting career began when he entered a local deadlift competition in 2011, aged 27 – and he walked away victorious.

This then led to him taking part in the Highlands Strongest Man in 2012, which was held in a gym car park in Inverness.

Stoltman again placed first.

In 2013, Luke competed in his first Britain’s Strongest Man, where he placed ninth.

He then went on to win five consecutive Scotland’s Strongest Man titles from 2013 to 2017.

Stoltman also improved his Britain’s Strongest Man placing each year, reaching fourth place by 2017.

A year prior, in 2016, Luke debuted at World’s Strongest Man, where he earned a third place finish in his heat.

However, it was in 2020 when Luke had his first podium finish – and this took place at Britain’s Strongest Man.

During the World’s Strongest Man event in 2022, Luke returned to compete once more and later finished in seventh place.

In 2023, both brothers returned to competition with Luke placing ninth at the Arnold Classic, qualifying for the World’s Strongest Man final for the fourth time, where he secured the eight spot.

Stoltman, who has also tasted glory in a European Strongest Man tournament, took sixth place at the 2023 Strongman Classic in London, 13th place at the 2023 Shaw Classic and a fifth place finish at the 2023 Giants Live World Open in Cardiff.
