Saudi transfer deadline day LIVE: Liverpool face £215m Mo Salah bid, Gerrard wants Jadon Sancho, John Terry EXCLUSIVE

CHELSEA legend John Terry is on the verge of agreeing a deal to manage Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabbab, SunSport can exclusively reveal.

The former England defender has had stints as an assistant coach with Aston Villa and Leicester, but now he's set to be Saudi's latest managerial recruit, following in the footsteps of Steven Gerrard.

Meanwhile, Liverpool have been offered a staggering £215million for winger Mohammed Salah.

Al-Ittihad made the eye-watering bid just hours after the Reds rejected £150m, and the Saudi Pro League window is still open until Thursday.

Elsewhere, Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho is reportedly wanted by Steven Gerrard's Al Ettifaq.

  • Salah stays at Liverpool

Al-Ittihad failed in their bid to land Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah.

Saudi Arabia's summer transfer window slammed shut last night and the Reds held onto Salah.

That was despite a world record £215million bid from Nuno Espirito Santo's team.

However, the Public Investment Fund may come back for the star forward in January representing either Al-Ittihad or Al-Hilal.

  • Coutinho leaving Aston Villa

Philippe Coutinho is on the brink of leaving Aston Villa for Al-Duhail on loan.

The move can still go ahead as Qatar's summer transfer window does not slam shut until Monday.

The 31-year-old has accepted a loan deal with the Middle Eastern team after rejecting offers from Besiktas and Real Betis.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Al-Duhail will cover Coutinho's salary.

  • Demarai Gray joins Al-Ettifaq

Demarai Gray has moved to Al-Ettifaq after a turbulent exit from Everton.

Gray moved to the Middle East after an £8million deal between the two clubs.

The 27-year-old penned a four-year contract with Steven Gerrard's side earlier this week after falling out with the Toffees' manager Sean Dyche.

The winger hit out at Dyche last week on social media after falling out of favour at Goodison Park.

  • Terry on the move

Chelsea legend John Terry has verbally agreed to become Al-Shabab's next manager.

According to , Terry is set for his first ever role as a head coach.

The 42-year-old was approached by the Saudi team's chiefs around a month ago and has been offered a contract of at least two years and up to four if it is rubber stamped as expected.

The ex-England international is currently working on a one-year deal as a consultant in the Blues' academy.

And the West Londoners have already said they will not stand in his way as a mark of respect to his service to them over almost two decades.

That is despite the fact a departure will be a major blow to their youth team losing such a figurehead from their camp.

  • Saudi transfer window CLOSED

Saudi Arabia's summer transfer window has officially slammed shut!

And Mohamed Salah is still at Liverpool!

The Reds refused to let their best player leave and stuck by their guns despite some astronomical bids from Al-Ittihad worth up to a world record £215million.

However, the Merseysiders can only enjoy this until January as the Public Investment Fund is expected to come back for Salah, who appeared keen on a move to the Middle East.

  • Tik tok, tik tok

The summer transfer window in Saudi Arabia is set to slam shut!

And Mohamed Salah as well as Jadon Sancho are still with Liverpool and Manchester United respectively.

As reported earlier, a move for either Premier League star is highly unlikely.

But is there another major last-minute swoop in the cards...?

  • Graham Potter snubs Lyon

Graham Potter has snubbed a return to management with French side Lyon, reports SunSport's Jack Rosser.

The former Chelsea and Brighton boss has been out of work since being brutally sacked by the Blues in April.

Potter, 48, is happy taking a lengthy break from management and felt this wasn't the right time or project to return to.

The ex-Swansea manager was Lyon owner John Textor's first choice, but following talks with the American, who also owns a large stake in Crystal Palace, he decided against a return to the dugout.

Ligue 1 side Lyon are now considering former Wolves manager Julen Lopetegui, who left on the eve of the new season following financial trouble at Molineux hampering the club's spending ability.

Laurent Blanc is still in charge at Lyon, but with his side sat bottom of Ligue 1 after four games the former France manager is on the brink of being sacked.

  • Salah and Sancho not moving

Manchester United ace Jadon Sancho and Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah won't be moving to Saudi Arabia tonight.

As SunSport's Martin Blackburn revealed, Al-Ettifaq have been priced out in their bid to land Sancho - with his future at Old Trafford now in doubt after his public bust-up with manager Erik ten Hag.

And Al-Ittihad look set to miss out on Salah as the Reds won't let him go at this stage with a replacement unavailable after the Premier League transfer window slammed shut last week.

However, Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is expected to come back in January at the earliest and could try to sign the star forward then for either Nuno Espirito Santo's side or Al-Hilal.

  • Al-Ettifaq priced out for Sancho

Al-Ettifaq have been priced out of a last-minute move to land Manchester United rebel Jadon Sancho, reports SunSport's Martin Blackburn.

Steven Gerrard’s Saudi side made an enquiry for the former Borussia Dortmund winger following his public bust-up with Erik ten Hag.

They signed Jordan Henderson earlier in the window and fancied pairing him with another Three Lions star in Sancho.

That would have saved the £73million ace and the manager an awkward meeting when the first team return to training at Carrington next week.

However Al Ettifaq were told the deal would include an obligation to sign Sancho for a fee of around £50m at the end of the season.

And the club decided they could not commit to that after their summer spending spree – which has also seen Everton’s Demarai Gray joining them.

So with just hours to go before the transfer deadline in Saudi, they pulled the plug on the deal.

  • 'Salah saga over'

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah won't be leaving Anfield tonight, reports suggest.

According to transfer insider Ben Jacobs, Al-Ittihad will be back for Salah in 2024.

Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund always targeted next year to bring the star forward to the Middle East.

And Al-Ittihad are not necessarily the chosen club as the Egypt international could go Al-Hilal, who targeted him but opted for Neymar instead.

  • Like father like son

Ex-Tottenham star Rafael van der Vaart's son Damian, 17, has followed in his father's footsteps and signed for Ajax.

The midfielder has penned a one-year deal with the Dutch giants and was unveiled to supporters via a touching photo of both him and his dad smiling at the Amsterdam Arena.

Damian will be involved with the Amsterdam outfit's Under-18 side this season.

Van der Vaart spent five years with Ajax until he left for Hamburg in 2005.

  • Yes for Jes

Ex-Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain player Jese Rodriguez has joined Brazilian team Coritiba as a free agent following his departure from Sampdoria in June.

Jese, who was once expected to be Cristiano Ronaldo's replacement at Real, spent four years with PSG.

The forward's spell at Parc des Princes came to an abrupt end in 2020 after he was accused of cheating on his partner Aurah Ruiz with her model friend.

The 30-year-old was also pictured at a party in Gran Canaria ignoring social distancing rules at the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Spaniard's behaviour proved to be a cause for concern for PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, who suggested that he was having a negative impact on the reputation of the club.

The former prodigy was thus loaned out four times to Las Palmas, Real Betis, Sporting Lisbon and Stoke.

  • Nicolas Pepe leaving

Arsenal flop Nicolas Pepe is set to leave the Emirates to join Trabzonspor.

According to transfer insider Rudy Galetti, Pepe has terminated his contract with the Gunners.

The winger is thus set to move to the Turkish outfit as a free agent.

The Ivory Coast international has agreed personal terms with Nenad Bjelica's side.

  • Cout me out

Aston Villa ace Philippe Coutinho is on the brink of joining Al-Duhail on loan.

The move can still go ahead as Qatar's summer transfer window does not close until Monday.

The 31-year-old has accepted a loan deal with the Middle Eastern club after rejecting offers from Besiktas and Real Betis.

According to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, Al-Duhail will cover Coutinho's salary.

  • Dyche on Gray

Everton boss Sean Dyche hit back at Demarai Gray's comments on social media.

Gray ultimately left Goodison Park for Saudi Arabia as he linked up with Steven Gerrard's Al=Ettifaq.

Demarai made it clear that he felt he was getting a move and he told us a move was done, which was interesting to hear from a player.

We reminded him of the truth of the fact that no moves are done without this club’s say so.

  • Gray's Everton farewell

Demarai Gray bid farewell to Everton fans and the club after joining Al-Ettifaq but appeared to take a swipe at manager Sean Dyche after falling out of favour at Goodison Park.

After two years with Everton, it’s time to say goodbye. I wish everyone at the club the very best and will be forever proud to have played for this great team.

To the fans, you were always incredible - thank you for your support. You made it a privilege to wear the shirt.

There has been a lot of speculation about my situation all summer. The truth is, I gave my all to this club on and off the pitch through good and bad.

I was ready to play as much football as possible this season but it felt like this was not going to happen. It’s time for my next chapter. I am match fit and excited to get playing.

  • Rooney linked with Birmingham

DC United manager Wayne Rooney could be set for a shock return to English football as Birmingham are keeping tabs.

Rooney, 37, cast doubt over his future with the MLS club earlier this week with his contract set to expire in December.

And now the Manchester United legend could be given a way out as the Championship side emerge as a possible destination.

The Blues, part-owned by NFL legend Tom Brady, made a strong start to the season under John Eustace - who has a contract until 2025.

SunSport understands the club is preparing for the eventuality of Eustace leaving the club.

There is no indication he will be sacked but he has been mooted as a possible successor to Michael Beale at Rangers should the Scottish giants seek a replacement.

Al-Ettifaq are keeping tabs on Manchester United ace Jadon Sancho before the Saudi Arabian summer transfer window slams shut tonight.

According to , Steven Gerrard's side is set to make a dramatic last-minute loan move for Sancho,.

The winger appears to have no future at Old Trafford having fallen out with manager Erik Ten Hag after lashing out on social media against him.

The England international's options are obviously limited but Saudi Arabia and Turkey represent potential options.

And it appears the 23-year-old could be following Demarai Gray over to Al-Ettifaq to ply his trade under manager Gerrard.

  • Mohamed Salah - What we know

Al-Ittihad are determined to sign Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah today before the Saudi transfer window slams shut at 10pm BST.

The Reds have been adamant they are unwilling to sell Salah and their resolve has truly been put to the test.

As per SunSport's Steve Brenner, the Saudi champions offered a world record £215million for the star forward.

The Egypt international has been offered a staggering £2.45m a week to quit Anfield with extra incentives.

The 31-year-old has been tempted with a large percentage of shirt sales, a £55,000 win bonus as well as ambassadorial roles for at least three major Saudi companies for the duration of his contract.

That could be worth an extra £18m with each firm willing to pay the ex-Roma star £6m each.

  • Al-Ettifaq troll Liverpool and rivals

Al-Ettifaq have trolled rivals Al-Ittihad in their announcement video for Demarai Gray.

The video used a retro-arcade style and showed the team browsing players to buy from the Premier League.

The team picked Liverpol and attempted to pick to choose Salah before an image of an angry Jurgen Klopp popped up saying "NO!"

The 'player' then scrolls across to sign Gray.

The extraordinary clip alludes to Al-Ittihad's transfer pursuit of Salah and the side may try one last time before the Saudi deadline tonight.
