Juventus 2 Dinamo Zagreb 0: Gonzalo Higuain and Daniele Rugani fire Juventus through to the last 16 as group winners

The Old Lady were already through but will now have a favourable draw as Leverkusen beat a very young Monaco team and Legia Warsaw shock Sporting Lisbon to qualify for the Europa League

JUVENTUS cruised through to the last 16 of the Champions League as group winners to ensure a safer draw for them will be made next monday after beating Dinamo Zagreb 2-0. 

Gonzalo Higuain put Juve ahead in the 52nd minute with a swing of his right foot to give the home supporters that much needed relief.

Daniele Rugani headed home the second to ensure that the Italian champions had no need to worry about the result in Lyon who were taking on Sevilla, with both teams still able to qualify.

It means that Zagreb have not taken a single point in this years Champions League losing all of their games and becoming whipping boys of the group.

Legia Warsaw caused the shock of the night to knock Sporting Lisbon out of the Europa League spot in Group F with Guilherme scoring the only goal of the game after 30 minutes.

Lisbon will be kicking themselves for not being able to get over the line for Europe's second competition which they would have been confident of going a long way, William Carvalho was sent off in the 85th minute.

Bayer Leverkusen won a dead rubber 3-0 against group winners AS Monaco as both team had already qualified for the last 16 with Vladlen Yurchenko putting Leverkusen ahead against a weakened Monaco side.

Julian Brandt doubled the Germans lead before Morgan De Sanctis turned in to his own net from a spot kick in the 82nd minute, the result though wont bother Monaco who will be seeded for the last 16 draw.

Club Brugge were the other team to lose every game in the group stage as they fell down 2-0 at home to FC Copehagen with the Danish side racing in to a two goal lead in the first 15 minutes.

A Brugge own goal in the 8th minute by Brandon Mechele set the tone for the night before Zanka headed in the second for Copenhagen who had an outside chance of finishing second in Group G have to settle for the Europa League spot.

Lyon and Sevilla could not be separated in a 0-0 draw with both teams having the chance to qualify for the last 16, Sevilla has the chance to win the group but Juventus beat Zagreb which meant just a point would see them take second.

Lyon will be a dangerous side in the Europa League, the holders of that competition Sevilla will not be able to defend their crown which they have held for three seasons, they will now have the chance to progress in Europe's elite tournament.
