Goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo completed a move to Wrexham on deadline day to replace Ben Foster following his retirement.

The 6ft 6in stopper, who is yet to make a senior appearance for Arsenal, spent time out on loan at League Two outfit Crewe Alexandra last season.

Okonkwo then spent the second half of the campaign with Austrian outfit SK Sturm Graz.

And he is now ready for another crack at the EFL after being signed by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney on a season-long loan.

Wrexham announced Okonkwo in style too, paying tribute to his first name with a welcome video using cartoon show Hey Arthur.

The video ended with Okonkwo copying his namesake’s iconic strut.

But Crewe Alexandra fans weren’t too impressed, with many calling out Wrexham for copying their Okonkwo announced in July 2022.

Crewe teased his arrival last year with the same strutting Arthur intro.

And some eagle-eyed supporters were quick to jump on Wrexham’s own announcement.

One said: “When the Wrexham admin copies the homework of the Crewe Alexandra admin.”

Another declared: “Wait you copied our announcement video from when we signed him lmao good luck Arthur.”

One noted: “Couldn’t even come up with your own announcement video.”

Another added: “Copying the best club in the world.”

Okwonkwo certainly can’t wait to get going at Wrexham, saying: “I know that the Club had a great season last year, and it’s good to see how the Club has a plan to progress up the leagues.

“The passion the fans, the owners and the Club have to keep moving forward is really good.”

Manager Phil Parkinson added: “I’d like to welcome Arthur to the Club, he’s a talented young goalkeeper and he’s going to be a great addition to the squad this season.”
