‘Shaken’ Roy Keane hides face after fan ‘headbutted’ him at Arsenal vs Man Utd – as man, 42, is arrested for assault
ROY Keane hid his face as he broke cover today after a fan allegedly headbutted him during the Arsenal and Manchester United match.
Video showed the ex-Manchester United skipper, 52, in a confrontation inside the Emirates Stadium during the closing moments of the game yesterday.
Keane broke cover this morning as he emerged for a walk with his two dogs.
The United legend, wearing a white t-shirt and baggy grey shorts, used a black jumper to cover his face as he walked along a residential road.
Roy Keane’s attacker exclusively unmasked by The Sun
It comes after his Sky Sports colleague Micah Richards was seen pinning a man against a wall as footage of the altercation emerged last night.
Both pundits are said to have been left shaken following the incident.
Metropolitan Police confirmed a man has been arrested on suspicion of assault today.
A spokesman said: “Police are investigating an incident at Emirates Stadium on Sunday, 3 September, during which a man was assaulted.
“On Monday September 4, a 42-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault (ABH). The man has been taken into police custody. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Witnesses have revealed how Keane called on nearby staff to call police.
Sky are now beefing up their security moving forward, Sun Sport understands.
Keane and Richards had been waiting by a lift as they made their way pitchside as the match came to a close.
But both tried to return to the Sky studio after Alejandro Garnacho had a goal ruled out for offside.
The pair were eventually escorted away by security, where they were both able to give their post-match analysis for Sky.
Arsenal are cooperating with authorities with the investigation underway.
A club spokesperson added: “We are aware of an incident that took place during our match against Manchester United on Sunday.
“The Metropolitan Police is conducting an investigation into the matter and we are fully cooperating with their enquiries.”
A spokesperson for Sky Sports said: “We understand the police are investigating an alleged assault by a member of the public immediately preceding the footage circulating on social media.
“In the footage seen, Micah Richards was acting to defuse a situation.”
A Met Police spokesman confirmed the force has launched an investigation.
A statement read: “Police are investigating following an assault that is alleged to have occurred at the Emirates Stadium during an Arsenal v Manchester United match on Sunday, 3 September.”
The two pundits have formed an unlikely bond, having played for fierce rivals Man City and Man United.
They regularly work on Sky’s Super Sunday programme and will likely be back on TV screens together after the international break on September 17.
