MLS Cup final penalty shoot-out: Watch (or don’t) as Toronto FC v Seattle Sounders broadcaster MISSES winning penalty kick in TV blunder

Fans watching the match were not imprssed when they almost missed Roman Torres' spot-kick

US sports broadcaster FOX left viewers furious night during the MLS Cup final between Toronto FC and Seattle Sounders after failing to show the match-winning penalty.

After both Toronto and Seattle converted on four of their first five attempts, it went to sudden death, and when the former missed, it was up to Sounders' defender Roman Torres to convert to win the trophy.

He duly dispatched the penalty with aplomb on Saturday - but FOX basically missed it, cutting to the Panama international running up to take, and just recovering as the ball hit the back of the net.

It seems like the production crew were caught by surprise with Torres' quick run-up - but did manage to capture the wild celebrations as Seattle won the trophy.

To top it off, broadcast viewers were then treated to a prompt cutaway to a Volvo commercial, missing further replays and some of on-field celebrations later on.

Twitter concurred, with some less than complimentary comments about their shoddy broadcast skills.
