SERGIO RAMOS may not have the warm welcome back to Sevilla that many football fans would expect.

The club's Ultras have released a statement condemning the signing and slamming the hierarchy for making it happen.

Ramos has re-joined Sevilla on a one-year deal after leaving Paris Saint-Germain on the expiry of his contract this summer.

And it would seem as if the move is a footballing fairy tale with the 37-year-old spending his formative years with Los Nervionenses as well being born and bred in Seville too.

But despite the idea of a World Cup winning hero returning to his boyhood club to see out his days and help them return to their former glory sounding perfect - that is not the case in Ramos' situation.

This transfer instead is riddled with bad blood after Ramos' 2005 transfer to Real Madrid left Sevilla fans furious that left their club in favour of the 35 La Liga champions.

And Sevilla's Ultra group, Biris Norte, have made it clear that they will not be supporting Ramos this season.

In a channels they took aim at the club for the signing of the former Spain international, claiming that the mere idea of the deal showed a "lack of respect" for the club's values.

They wrote: "As an ultra group of Sevilla FC for almost 50 years, we want to express our rejection of those who proposed this signing.

"We are not motivated by hatred or resentment, but by love and pride for our club, its history and its fans.

"We believe that the mere proposal of this signing already represented a lack of respect for the values that have made us great, for the symbols and legends that have defended our shield, and for the thousands of Sevillistas who have suffered the contempt of this player in the past.

"We think that this signing more benefits the interests of managers who neither understand nor understand what makes Sevilla FC great and who only look out for their personal and/or economic interests."

The fan group went on to explain they will not boo or show discontent towards Ramos, but that they are refusing to get behind him and show him support.

They explained: "We want to make it clear that, unlike what many have stated, at we will not carry out acts such as cheering strikes or insults to any player during the games.

"However, we cannot and should not show support for any act that violates the principles and dignity of Sevilla FC."

Despite it being 18 years since Ramos departed from Sevilla it would appear that Biris Norte have not forgotten how they felt towards him and are willing to take a stand for their beliefs.

The club face Las Palmas on Sunday in La Liga where Ramos could make his second debut.

It is yet to be seen what kind of reaction he will get from the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium crowd as a whole.
