Warnock, 74, was taking charge of his last game in charge of the Terriers in the clash against Stoke City at the John Smith's Stadium.

During the match, Warnock was serenaded by the travelling supporters as they chanted: "Neil Warnock you're a w*****r, you're a w*****r."

To which he could be seen brilliantly waving back and giving a celebration.

Warnock has previously admitted that is what he has wanted as it suggests that he has "helped people love football".

He said in 2018: "I don't want silence. I want them all to be chanting "Warnock's a w*****r" over and over again. For a whole minute.

"That would be my ideal. They'll all smile because they'd all know that would mean a lot to me.

"As daft as it sounds. It matters because it would mean I've stirred emotions. I've helped people love football."

The game ended in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Matty Pearson gave the hosts the lead in the 31st minute before Daniel Johnson draw the Potters level two minutes later.

Ben Wilmot then fired the visitors ahead in the 62nd minute.

However, Jack Rudoni made sure that Warnock's last game in charge would not end in defeat as he equalised in the 68th minute.

He added: "I just said to the lads 'just make sure it's not a damp squib' - and they did that. They went out and gave their best.

"It's been hard at times but I really believe in these players. I wouldn't swap them for anyone. It's been very emotional talking to them. Some of the things they've said to me I'll treasure for the rest of my life.

"It's been a great six months - and it was really nice to see the fans stay behind after the game and give me that applause, when I thought they might just clear off.

"It meant the world, that. I can't remember a manager being given a guard of honour before when he's getting booted out."
