Pedro vows Seagulls will learn from loss
Joao Pedro insists Brighton will earn from their 3-2 loss against AEK Athens in a thrilling but frustrating European debut.
The Brazilian forward twice won and converted penalty equalisers - both awarded when the referee overturned his initial decisions by watching video replays.
Afterwards he told TNT Sports: "Today we conceded a goal too early.
"We have to see what we can improve and be ready for the next game.
"We know they're strong in corners and in attack. If you mark more active you do not concede these goals.
"If we had won this game it would be better but I'm happy to score today. I tried to help the team and we need to improve for the next game.
"We lost against West Ham as well and they play similar to them, we need to learn from today."
Hero Kudus already feels 'part of the family'
Goalscoring debutant Mohammed Kudus says he already feels part of the West Ham "family" after their 3-1 comeback win over Backa Topola.
The Hammers saw off the Serb top-flight leaders with grit and possession more than style.
But midfielder Kudus told TNT Sports: "I think we want to go from the first minute of the first game and control it.
"The winning mentality from the team was all good. We did what the coach told us and we got the result.
"We dominated the game in the first half but weren't able to score.
"For me, I think we knew what we were doing, whether we were down or up. We kept the same mentality, we do what we do best and the result comes after.
"It feels like I've been here for a long time already, everybody has made me feel like part of the family. I just do what the coach tells me."
Seagulls rue second-half wastefulness
Brighton's Europa League debut season can and surely will get better after their unlucky defeat.
Clearly - from their line-up - the Prem is the priority - but the way the Seagulls fought in a pulsating second half showed a 3-2 defeat hurt.
Two-goal Joao Pedro told TNT Sports: "If we had started more active it could have been better."
Brighton are only Brit losers
Brighton's thrilling 3-2 home loss to AEK Athens on their European debut marred an otherwise fine night for British clubs.
Darwin Nunez, Luis Diaz and Mo Salah struck after the break in Liverpool's 3-1 comeback victory at LASK.
West Ham then matched that score and revival at home to Backa Topola.
Two James Ward-Prowse corners teed up decisive headed goals for Mohammed Kudus and Tomas Soucek in the final 20 minutes.
And Senegal striker Abdallah Sima, on loan from Brighton , deservedly bundled Rangers' clincher against Real Betis at Ibrox.
