Having been brought on by Roy Hodgson in the 88th minute, Kelly’s debut officially lasted just two minutes and 39 seconds.

As a result, he currently has the shortest England career ever, one second less than Nathaniel Chalobah.

Despite being called up for Euro 2012 to replace Gary Cahill, Kelly did not feature during the tournament and has not played for his country since.

Now, 11 years on, the 33-year-old is a West Brom player but has yet to appear for the Baggies this season.

Kelly suffered a serious knee injury on loan at Wigan in January and has since returned to the Hawthorns.

However, he only played seven times for the club before his loan move and has not made a matchday squad so far this term.

West Brom are currently 15th in the Championship with two wins from their first seven matches ahead of Saturday’s clash with Millwall.

After breaking into the Liverpool first-team, Kelly was twice named the club’s young player of the year.

Capable of playing across the back four, the defender made 62 appearances before he was sold to Crystal Palace in 2014.

Following eight years at Selhurst Park, Kelly had made 154 Premier League appearances for Liverpool and Palace.

He joined West Brom on a free transfer last summer before a loan move to Wigan to help with their survival bid.

However, Kelly suffered a serious knee injury on his debut and the Latics were ultimately relegated to League One at the end of the season.
