Spanish giants take to Twitter to announce they have nailed the Uruguayan hitman to a further five years with them
LUIS SUAREZ has signed a new deal with Barcelona.
It means the Uruguayan hitman - twice suspended for biting opponents - is tied to the Spanish giants until June 30, 2021.
The club announced the news on their Twitter feed.
Proclaiming an 'official announcement', the tweet read: @LuisSuarez9 will continue @FC Barcelona until 2012 #Suarez2021.
Earlier, Barca president Josep Maria Bartomeu said: "It's done. Just a few small details need to be sorted.
"We want Luis Suarez to stay at the club for many more years. For us, he is an important character."
Suarez won last season's European Golden Shoe - awarded to Europe's top scorer in domestic football - after netting 40 league goals.
The former Liverpool man, together with Lionel Messi - Barca's all-time top scorer - and Neymar scored a combined 131 goals in all competitions as they won La Liga and the Copa del Rey.

And Bartomeu told Uruguayan radio station Cadena Celeste: "It will be a great Christmas present, not necessarily for Luis as he already knows he's going to continue here, but for football fans.
"He forms part of this spectacular trident we have, which helps the entire team function."
Suarez, 29, started this season with a hat-trick at home to Real Betis but hasn’t been as prolific of late, netting only seven goals in the next 13 matches.
In addition to his domestic triumphs, Suarez has also won the Champions League since moving to Barcelona in from Anfield for £75million in 2014.
