NEWCASTLE have beaten French giants PSG 4-1 after a thrilling Champions League night at St James' Park.

Later in the first half, after a long VAR break, Newcastle's lead was doubled through local lad Dan Burn as he thumped a header past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The Magpies' advantage was extended to 3-0 following Sean Longstaff's stunning finish before Lucas Hernandez pulled one back for PSG to make it 3-1 minutes later.

Fabian Schar scored a screamer in the 91st minute to put the gloss on a monumental night at St James' Park.

Grab your popcorn, and whatever other snacks you choose, as we get ready for what is going to be an absolute blinder of a game.

  • A huge night for Gordon

Just a few months ago he was being ridiculed over a potential move to Chelsea and a huge price tag.

What a night for the youngster.

  • What are the odds?

You simply cannot call how this one is going to go...

On one hand, Newcastle could be well up for the occasion and take the game to a fantastic PSG side, but on the other, PSG could tear them apart and simply have too much quality.

Unfortunately we can't tell you which way it will go, but we do have the odds for you, courtesy of , and this is how they are looking...

    • Newcastle - 6/5
    • PSG - 7/4
    • Draw - 15/8

  • Botman will be missed

Will Newcastle be able to cope without Sven Botman in defence tonight?

In his place, up steps tonight's captain Jamaal Lascelles, who is an experienced leader, but simply does not have the same quality as the Dutch stalwart.

This will be a huge test for the centre-back, but if he steps up tonight he could well work his way back into this brilliant Newcastle side.

He won't find it easy against that PSG attack, that is for sure, but it could be a magical night for him, and every other Newcastle player if they are on their game.

  • Predictions?

It's a tough one to call, this...

Newcastle could turn up at home and thrash the European giants, or the occasion could get the better of them and they could crumble.

Lethal striker Alexander Isak will be one to watch for the Magpies, as he looks to really make a mark in Europe.

Of course Mbappe will be the main man that Newcastle need to look out for, with his electric pace and deadly finishing.

Vital too will be the midfield battle, which could be in favour of the hosts, boasting two world-class players in those positions, Bruno Guimaraes and Sandro Tonali.

Every minute that passes it feels like my mind changes, but I'm going to go with a PSG win, what do you think?

  • All out attack

It's an aggressive line up from PSG tonight, as it looks like they will go for the jugular against Newcastle away from home.

Mbappe, Dembele, Kolo-Muani and Ramos is a front four that would frighten any defence, with heaps of pace, skill and technical ability.

  • How is the group looking?

PSG were the only team to win their first game in Champions League group F, with Newcastle drawing with AC Milan and Dortmund sitting bottom of the pile.

Therefore this is how the group looks right now...

    • PSG - 3 points
    • Newcastle - 1 point
    • AC Milan - 1 point
    • Borussia Dortmund - 0 points
  • Mbappe vs Dan Burn

Clash of the titans some might say...

Arguably the world's finest footballer and Kylian Mbappe going head to head at St James Park on a Champions League night.

What more could we ask for?

  • Eddie Howe on PSG clash

The 45-year-old said: "We're determined to try to do well, and one thing I'm absolutely certain about is the atmosphere will be as good as I've ever experienced here.

"I know the supporters will get behind us and then whatever we do from there will depend on what happens afterwards.

"But we're really looking forward to it, we're looking forward to the challenge that it will bring.

"I've already started my preparation for the game. It's going to be an extreme test, but one that we can't wait for."
