UFC Knockout of the Year 2016: Conor McGregor’s brutal KO on Eddie Alvarez KO leads nominations
Also nominated are Stipe Miocic, Jimi Manuwa and Page VanZant for her spectacular headkick
THE UFC KO of 2016 nominees are out.
Leading the way is Conor McGregor after he dismantled Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 with a second-round knockout.
McGregor’s win saw him become the first to hold two belts at the same time, but the Irishman faces stiff competition elsewhere.
Stipe Miocic’s takedown of Fabricio Wedum last March is nominated.
As is Jimi Manuwa’s finishing piece against Ovince Saint Preux.
However, Page VanZant is odds-on to be crowned the winner despite losing to Michelle Waterson this month.
Her mind-boggling headkick crumpled Bec Rawlings and is sure to be replayed forever more.
Speaking about the move, VanZant revealed: “We call it a ‘kick in the can’, the one I knocked her out with.
“I’ve done that a few times in training camp. I was like, I might as well go out there and use everything in my arsenal.”
